Putney High Street is consistently found to be one of the UK’s most polluted roads, with illegally high levels of Nitrogen Dioxide and poor air quality.
One measure which would help would be for Labour-run Transport for London (TFL) to make the buses service the area electric.
Whilst there are many hybrid buses, the significant and constant traffic congestion means we are not getting the full environmental benefit.
Only the 93 bus is currently electric. The 39 will become electric over the next twelve months once new buses have been delivered.
There are no plans to electrify ANY of the other bus routes on the High Street before 2034. Given the poor air quality levels we believe Putney ought to be a priority and it should not be waiting a decade.
sign our petition for TfL to introduce electric buses on all the routes using Putney High Street.
